THE FESTIVAL™

The star of the show on Day Two on 13 March was the incredible Altior who continued his unbeaten streak over fences for Nicky Henderson, equalling Big Bucks’s winning record, before going on to break the record later in the season at Sandown Park.

Sent off at The Festival as the 4/11 favourite, he held off strong challenges from Politologue and Sceau Royal respectively before returning to the Winners’ Enclosure as a back-to-back Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase winner.

The record crowd for Day Two roared home Tiger Roll in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase who put in an extraordinary performance to finish well clear of the field and to follow up on his success in this race last year for jockey Keith Donoghue, and trainer Gordon Elliot.

The Duchess of Cornwall, Honorary Member of The Jockey Club, attended Day Two and presented the trophy to the winning Owner, Jockey, and Trainer of The Queen Mother Champion Steeple Chase.
